Summary:
Assessment of current position of the active involvement of children and young people and training needs for staff, undertaking of relevant training and completion of Hear by Right standards map and plan for Derbyshire Youth Service.
What we did:
Completed the Hear by Right standards mapping.
What happened:
The National Youth Agency hosted a training and exploration day to enable all youth workers to learn more about participation and Hear by Right and to enable them to assess the mapping completed so far and begin the planning stages.
What we learnt:
It is crucial to involve ground level workers is the completion of the standards as they have important information as to what is happening.
What we plan to do next:
Update the mapping and complete the planning sections of the Hear by Right standards map and plan for Derbyshire and revisit with the NYA in February.
The training and the map and plan will enable workers across Derbyshire Youth Service to improve their work in relation to the active involvement of children and young people across the county.
Follow up:
- Follow up meeting in February
- Hear by Right map and plan done, identified work to be undertaken
- What’s changed examples to be identified and collected
- Act by Right skills for young people to be written into plan
