Using Hear by Right

This page celebrates and showcases the diverse ways in which the Hear by Right & Building Standards framework has been used across a range of sectors and organisations. It offers an insight into the learning experienced by users across England, provides guidance for using the standards and highlights best practice examples.
The standards framework has been used to assess and improve practice and policy on the active involvement of children and young people within Local Authorities, Health providers, Education environments, the Voluntary, Community and Third sector as well as part of the implementation of Children's Trusts.
The process for using the Hear by Right participation standards is as varied as the organisations that use it.
Some of the shared stories of using Hear by Right have been made available online and detail the process by which they used the mapping and planning tool to widen the involvement of children and young people within their organisation.
Children and young people are able to use the Building Standards framework which covers the original Hear by Right Standards in a way that is understandable and accessible to a group of younger users.
