Staffordshire Arts and Museums has shared the following details about using Hear by Right and young people's participation in the organisation.
Our Main Strengths
SAMS has good links with other Staffordshire County Council departments, the QLS, schools, museums, businesses, funders and community partners as well as strong links with the corporate communication department, attracting regular press coverage. The service is tailored to fit the needs of its customers and charges are supplemented or kept low to enable access from all parts of the community. SAMS is a member of Audiences Central and able to draw on available knowledge and expertise from within the sector, sharing information on artists, projects, training opportunities and useful contacts across the service and with partner organisations. Communication amongst SAMS staff at all levels is encouraged through the Staff forum and away days.
Our Main Weaknesses
The service is part of Staffordshire County Council and as such has no logo, working to signpost nationally recognised quality marks, rather than creating its own. Partnership working is important as the organisation has a small team of staff, many of whom focus on advocacy work, supporting other agencies and working from non-permanent bases to create case study material or collect data through creative consultation. Although research into non-service users is relatively infrequent, the service is constantly engaging new audiences, if only on a short term basis with a view to handing project control over to other agencies.
What we can offer to other in the region
Staffordshire Arts and Museum Service is able to offer/deliver creative consultation to other agencies in the region, either through the engagement of a professional artist, or through the provision of case study examples and advice sessions. With particular strengths in Family Friendly and Arts and Health and Young Offenders, the service is also able to match organisations to relevant partners within the region and offer funding to arts or heritage projects.
