Furness Locality has a Child protection policy as well as Complaint procedures that are prevalent in every team. Each staff member must hold a current and valid CRB check.

Some individual teams have their own risk assessments for young people’s participation depending on the individual or activity.

The Furness Participation Officer devised a transport policy for young people and children in 1997 along with a risk assessment agreed by Margaret McIntyre and consulted with young people and children on a further policy for the Barrow Childrens Home.

At the Barrow Childrens Home and Hart street short breaks home there is a Verbal Complaints procedure and complaints book to enable all young people and children of different needs and abilities to take part safely.

To comply with the Data Protection Act 1998 consent forms for all individuals featured in photographs must be completed. There are two variations on the consent forms, one for children and one for adults.
