Take Over Day was used to scope the value of a young people's advisory board at strategic level

2 peer research projects- one on young people’s perceptions of School Nurses, and one on young parents perceptions of breast feeding-findings from this work to be fed into work plans/ new developments and paves the way for Young People’s future involvement, to do through champs

- Overend Road: Y/P unhappy with the incentive scheme and asked for this to be reviewed and the policy was altered to suit ability and need.

- CYSS young person is being trained to inspect work with development co-ordinator.
- Holiday provision and out school clubs are encouraged to set boundaries and rules with C/YP at the first session which are then displayed on the wall.
- Young mums were concerned about ltd choice of childcare providers and flexibility in relation to re-integration into education. Audit undertaken of providers & locations to provide YP with this info by TP project worker. Y/P also made aware of Care to Learn Scheme. Resulting in improved educational outcomes for teenage parents

C&YP’s involvement has been central to the development of the plan

• Feedback from broad range of YP used to inform plan

Young people on Board (guaranteed stakeholders) contribute to set Strategic Aims, including current Aim 1 on young people’s participation. Identified actions in the Next Steps paper include activity to gain other young people’s contribution to the strategic direction of The NYA through e-bulletins and an event in Feb 07.

The young people felt a little overwhelmed by the number of councillors in attendance and felt smaller group activities would be better in the future. This has been taken on board.

Gateshead Youth Assembly are concerned that the engagement of young people is an integral part of the Community Consultation Strategy.
